     Effingham City Police Department is seeking applicants for
                       2  Part-Time 9-1-1 Telecommunicators

       The Dispatch Center is the primary Public Safety Answering Point for the City of Effingham dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, Fire and EMS.
The primary purpose of a Telecommunicator is to answer and process emergency 911 and
non-emergency calls for service via a computer aided dispatch system, gathering information,
providing information, and updating, documenting, and maintaining data, dealing
with irrational and abusive people,

Must be flexible to work mostly midnights, evenings, weekends and Holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Strong keyboarding experience
  • Operate multiple computer programs
  • Operating complex phone system
  • Multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good hearing and eyesight
  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Handle stressful situations and all types of people 
          Preferred qualifications: 6 months experience as a 911 Telecommunicator, LEADS Certification,
          EMD Certification, CPR Certification, familiar with mapping programs and Effingham County,
          Freedom Console recording,  HTE CAD V Software and working with an
    I 5 environment.

      Knowledge of city and county jurisdictions: streets, businesses, and surrounding communities
